So What Happened After The Revolution?
By the 1830s after the revolution, Uruguay, Paraguay, Columbia, Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile had become independent states and divided into 5 republics: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. The people within them tried to sustain these republics but there were many problems. Because of the recent war, population, property, and livestock had decreased among the republics. Also transportation and communication problems made unity among the republics very difficult. The republics tried to solve these problems, but just when things seemed bleak Caudillos, who were strong revolutionary leaders, took control and kept the republics together. These strong leaders along with fixing previous problems of the republics, also built roads, canals, ports, and schools. The accomplishments of the Caudillos were monumental; however, many of these leaders eventually became dictators of their respective states. Later, the people would overthrow them, recreating the republics.
