CHILDHOOD AND EARLY LIFE
Simón Bolívar was born in Caracus on July 24th, 1973 and died on December 17, 1930. His education consisted of tutors, primarily Don Símon Rodríguez, who was a headmaster at an elementary school in the city and emphasized enlightenment. Simon Rodríguez also housed Bolívar after he was orphaned in 1786. Bolívar was also taught under other teachers in the school and took several classes, helping him to become America's greatest humanist. Bolívar continued his education in Spain and soon married Maria Teresa Rodriguez del Toro y Alaysa in 1802, who soon after died of Yellow Fever causing him to move back to Venezuela to keep company with Napoleon. When he moved here, Napoleon had named Joseph Bonaparte King of Spain and its colonies (including Venezuela) which led him to join the resistance movement.
