SUPPORT & OPPOSITION TO THE REVOLTUION
The Support
The one goal was to gain independence. Venezuela was one of the countries that agreed with the idea of gaining freedom for themselves. Bolivar was the main contributor who believed in liberty; therefore, he instilled the thought of action towards freedom in the people of the Latin Americas. He also recruited Indians and black slaves to develop a stronger ethnic range of people. Many Latin American countries, along with the extras recruited, all supported the revolution and its idea to gain independence.
The Opposition
The natural thing for Spain to do when faced with the potential secession of all its precious territories and resources was to fight to keep them. While most of the country's firepower was focused on rebelling against France, the Spanish army in Latin America fought back against the independence-seeking revolutionaries. In the end, there was not enough military power and stability for the mother country to maintain control of its colonies, and one by one its territories erected themselves as individual nations.
